On the 18th of December last I addressed an identic note to the Governments of the nations now at war, requesting them to state, more definitely than they had yet been stated by either group of belligerents, the terms upon which they would deem it possible to make peace. I spoke on behalf of humanity and of the rights of all neutral nations like our own, many of whose most vital interests the war puts in constant jeopardy.

Easily readable in Kindle format. Very informative on what was on President Wilson's mind as he went to Congress to make the case during the winter of 1917 to declare war on Germany. Insightful too for what the Chief Executive proposed back in the day when it came to handling "enemy aliens". If you have the interest in primary source documents about the US and its entry into the Great War, it's worth the read.Product details

Why We Are at War Messages to the Congress January to April 1917 Woodrow Wilson 9781523836581 Books Reviews
This collection of documents has completely cemented in my mind that, as the Roman Republic ended with Sulla, the American Republic ended with Lincoln, and was put into full overdrive by Wilson.
Wilson was either a stooge or a monster. One cannot understand WWII unless one understands WWI, and one cannot understand WWI unless you understand the utopian minded bungling of Wilson so well documented here.
