Between the Sheets (pun intended) is a delightful collection of stories about folks who've sailed with Fred and Renee on their boat, The Sail Pepper, and also a humorous look at the lives of the wealthy who rent villas at St.John.(Fred and Renee cleaned a villa as one of their "part-time"jobs!)There are stories which made me laugh out loud, great recipes from their collection, and a cast of characters too funny to have been imagined.
I read the book twice--once before a visit to St.John, and once during the visit, and I intend to read it again. The "sheets" of the Sail Pepper hold many stories between them, and Fred and Renee are excellent in sharing these stories with the readers.

This book is a great funny slice of Island Life, I visited St John and I can actually visualize these characters, maybe I met some of them. I would love to go exploring in depth with Fred and Renee, and try some of their recipes first hand, it's on my Bucket List!
I've travelled to several a tropical paradise islands and fall in love with each and every one of them. And like everyone on vacation thinks it is amazing... but could I actually every lived here? This book gives a peek through the looking glass at what it takes to live in paradise. It is a very fun and light read. It gives you idea what it is like behind the scenes of the service industry for a tropical paradise. I read this book on a cruise that was heading to St John as one of the ports of call and it gave me a much better appreciation for the island and everyone I met ashore that whole week.
This is a tale of two sides of life on St. John in the US Virgin Islands. (There are many other sides to life here.) Yes, I live here and I can say I thoroughly enjoyed their tales. They write with great good humor about their adventures running a day-charter sail business from the eco-campground on the island...tales of families enjoying all the hiking, snorkeling, sailing adventures of a great vacation with a light footprint on the environment. If you have sailed with them you might even recognise yourself.
Their other business leads to vastly different tales of island visitors from the ultra-high end of the economic scale who stay in a luxury villa and demand and demand and use and use. The contrasts are stunning.
Other slices of life on an island are entertaining and oh, so true. If you want to vacation here or even think you'd like to chuck it all and live here, you owe it to yourself to read this one.

Well this book is about a man and a woman who decided to do it - and when the vacationers bid farewell they stay. Oh paradies!
